Thought of the day
Rather I should say thought of yesterday. Anyone who enjoys the tongue tingling sounds of electronic music soon decides on which team they choose to go to bat for. Of course by team I mean everyone who listens to electronic music eventually picks a genre. Most even find a few they can not stand. I personally throw up in my mouth when ever I hear the first few riffs of a dub step track. Now do not get me wrong we should love all music, but the genre is repulsive, uncreative, repetitive, and really lacks the talent, soul and class of others. My hope for the future? more house less dub!

Blah can't get this damn format to work... Whatevs. Anyway, I've gotta agree with Greg Gillis (Girl Talk) on this one:
ReplyDelete>“I want to like everything until I’m convinced why not,” he tells me. He and his friends will “ride each other for not being into things. ‘You didn’t buy the new Katy Perry record? What? I’ve got two.’ ”
>“I don’t want it to be ironic,” he added. “What it comes down to is being a fan of all this music....”
I think there is an alternative to genre-ing yourself, and that would be figuring out what it is in all of these different musics that people enjoy. I feel weird, even jealous, not getting pleasure out of something when I can clearly see someone else is (Hence my struggle, recently won, to enjoy breaks).
...But maybe there is only so much dopamine the brain can release, and that would be an argument for saving it up.
@jon basically it comes down to dance style and BPM... There is no enjoyment in dancing around like a drunk baby just learning to walk, or hearing the same whomp whomps... its does not excite me or inspire me to dance and that's what electronic music should do.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion anyways;)
I also should add all dancing is great and comes from the heart no matter what it looks like.. so I guess it comes down to I do not feel inspired by Dub Step ;)
ReplyDeletePsy Trance--that's another one I can't stand.
